No matter if you rent out your vehicle or you would like to hire one, you need to know that if something happens you are covered. Our comprehensive insurance offer has you covered whether you are an owner or a traveller.

Traveller

We want you to have a safe adventure and we know incidents can happen.

At SHAREaCAMPER we want to make sure you are covered in case of accidental damage with one of our two insurance options:

Standard Liability Reduction

  • Included in the rental rate
  • Security bond of NZD 3,500

Premium Liability Reduction

  • Daily rate NZD 35
  • Security bond of NZD 500

What is covered?

Standard Liability Reduction (Liability NZD 3,500)

  • Accidental exterior damage (scratch, bumb, etc.)

  • Windscreen chip/repair

Not included

  • Aesthetic exterior damage (vents, etc.)
  • Fixture damage (TV, fridge, radio, etc.)
  • Aesthetic internal damage (handbrake cover, ceiling, etc.)

Owner

We offer a tailor made insurance option that kicks in on day one of the rental, and lasts for the duration of the hire. Your vehicle is insured for its value up to NZD 400,000 and legal liability cover up to NZD 10 million. (The cost for this insurance is included in our service fee).

Owner

We want Owners to have just as a relaxing time as the Travellers do, while their vehicle is out on hire. That’s why we offer a tailor made insurance option that kicks in on day one of the rental, and lasts for the duration of the hire. Your vehicle is insured for its value up to AUD $120,000 and legal liability cover up to AUD $20 million. A small daily fee will be charged for insurance based on the value of your vehicle. In the case of an accident the Traveller is personally liable for the amount of their security bond.

An Introduction To How you are covered in Germany

No matter if you are the Owner renting out your vehicle or you are a Traveller looking to hire one; its good to know, that we have arranged for an Insurance Coverage Package, tailored made for our SHAREaCAMPER customers.

How does it work?

While the vehicle is out on hire it is covered by the RMV and KRAVAG. This type of cover is only valid while the vehicle is out on hire; that is from day one of the rental, up until it is returned. As an owner you still maintain your current cover, however if anything were to happen during the rental, your premiums would be unaffected as the insurance from RMV & KRAVAG takes precedence. You also do not need to change the category of how you use your vehicle from private to commercial. This insurance package is included in SHAREaCAMPER's commission. That means there is no extra cost for the owner of the vehicle under this insurance.

What is included in the Rental Insurance?

The Comprehensive cover is included and that covers you in case of an accident, as well as other events like hail and storm damage, floodings, earthquakes, explosions, short circuits, glas damage, but also theft and break ins, as well as collisions with animals and animal bites (e.g. animals chewing up cables) Incase of a breakdown the vehicle is also covered while traveling through Europe, not only Germany. This includes accomodation, rental cars etc. It will also be covered for towing to the closest garage.

  • Travel cancellation costs up to a value of 5000€ with a liability of 75€ (Only included for packages bought within 14 days after the booking confirmation. For packages bought after the 14 days, trip cancellation only will be insured.)
  • Bond insurance in case the owner holds back the bond as consequence of a damage caused by the traveller during the hire. The traveller’s liability amounts 250€
  • Insurance of interiors up to a value of 8000€ for personal luggage, household goods, loose parts, radio, TV and cameras (2500€ max. per damage) and for computers, mobile navigation systems, mobile phones, radio devices, fax machines, bikes, surfboards and other sport equipments (3000€ max. per damgage)

The SaC Travel Insurance is bookable from EUR 8.40 per day. For bookings with more than 21 days, you get a 10% discount on the total price.

Get Answers To Some Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is my campervan covered?

    While using the SHAREaCAMPER platform, you must maintain private insurance for your campervan or caravan. However, from pick-up to drop-off, your vehicle will be covered through our insurance provider. The insurance premium is included in the commission SHAREaCAMPER receives for every booking. Please note that the insurance policy does not cover tow vehicles.

  • What happens if something gets broken during a hire?

    Because our travellers know that they’re hiring someone’s personal vehicle, they treat it as their own. In the unlikely event that something does get damaged, hires are covered by comprehensive vehicle insurance. We also hold a security bond and the traveller’s payment details. Our vehicle handover reports help prevent any confusion about the condition of vehicles before and after hires.

  • What happens if my camper breaks down?

    While your vehicle is out on hire our support team will be on call 24/7 to assist in the event the traveller need any assistance with the hire. All SHAREaCAMPER vehicles are also covered by nation-wide roadside assistance which includes roadside support, towing, repair case management, and additional transport and accommodation options for the traveller in the event of a break-down.
