SHAREaCAMPER

Liability Reduction Option for You

Your cover, at a glance

No matter if you rent out your vehicle or whether you would like to hire one, you need to know that you are covered if something happens. Our liability reduction policy will cover you for accidental loss or damage and third party liability, whether you are an owner or a traveller (limits apply).

Traveller

We want you to have a safe adventure but also we know incidents can happen. Therefore, at SHAREaCAMPER we want to make sure you are covered in case of accidental damages to the vehicle.

There are two packages available for you. Both options will cover you for accidental loss or damages and third party liability (limits apply).

Please have a thorough look at our traveller flyer as an essential guide to avoid common mishaps when driving with an unfamiliar, larger vehicle on foreign roads. Make sure all your questions regarding the handling of the vehicle are answered during the handover and that the handover document has been completed and signed by you and the owner of the vehicle.

In the rare case of an incident please always inform the owner of the vehicle as well as SHAREaCAMPER's customer service.

For more information please refer to the SHAREaCAMPER Fleet Insurance Cover Summary for Travellers.

Owner

When renting out your vehicle through SHAREaCAMPER you can choose to use our special fleet insurance solution or your own private insurance.

Through the Fleet Insurance Policy organised by SHAREaCAMPER with our insurance partner Star Camper Care Insurance your vehicle is covered for accidental loss or damages and third party liability (limits apply). In the rare case of an incident, our customer service team, together with the team of our insurance and roadside assistance partners, is happy to provide you with support for repairs / repair management. Of course you can also choose to use your own, trusted workshop.

In the event of an insurance claim the dedicated claim management team will support you through the claim and repair process. Please ensure that the handover report is completed and signed by you and the traveller and the claim form is completed by you.

Add an additional driver – add safety!

Taking turns allows each driver to have a break from concentrating on the road ahead. Sharing the travelling makes driving long distances a more relaxed experience. Adding an additional driver lets you enjoy the journey and adds safety without adding extra costs. With SHAREaCAMPER there is no fee for additional drivers!

Please note that each additional driver needs to comply with the same age and driver’s licence restrictions as the primary driver. The number of additional drivers depends on the seating capacity of your rental vehicle.

Get answers to some frequently asked questions

  • Is the rental vehicle covered?

The rental vehicle is covered through SHAREaCAMPER’s liability reduction policy from pick-up to drop-off. The vehicle is covered for accidental loss or damage to it and legal liability arising from an accident within the booking country during the rental period. Please note that age and licence restrictions may apply to the driver of the rental vehicle. When not rented out through SHAREaCAMPER a private insurance needs to be maintained.

  • What happens if something is damaged during a hire?

In the unfortunate event that something does get damaged, travellers are liable for any costs up to the security bond of the selected package for each individual insurable event (or non-insurable event as per the above table). The repair amount exceeding the traveller’s security bond will be covered by SHAREaCAMPER’s liability reduction policy. In the rare incidence where a damage occurs during the rental and the policy cannot provide cover, the traveller is liable for the damage costs.

  • What happens if the rental vehicle breaks down?

While the vehicle is out on hire the roadside assistance support team will be on call 24/7 to assist with general enquiries, such as technical advice or advice on the nearest repair shop. In the unfortunate event of a break down the roadside assistance team will come to the spot to provide roadside support or to organise a tow to the nearest repair shop or campsite (additional fees apply).

  • Is it important to complete the Handover Report?

The vehicle handover is crucial to ensure everyone has a great experience. The Handover Report protects both parties, so it is extremely important to thoroughly complete the report at the time of pick up and drop off.

At pick up please take your time and go over the vehicle thoroughly so all vehicle specific details are understood. Note down any existing damages and ask any questions that you might have. We recommend taking pictures of the handover report as well as the vehicle.

At the time of drop off, again, please spend some time going over the vehicle thoroughly to make sure that if damages occurred these are noted down on the report. It is essential that both parties sign off the document and that it is forward to SHAREaCAMPER.

For rentals in New Zealand, please also ensure that Road User Charges (RUC) are being paid at vehicle drop-off in cash. The traveller’s security bond cannot be used to pay for RUC and additional charges (administration fee) may apply for the traveller.
