Description
Henrietta is my lovely, simple and reliable Econovan. I have lovingly and thoughtfully turned her into a compact campervan and can vouch that van life with Henrietta is so good! I have travelled in her through South Australia, Victoria, Tasmania, New South Wales and Queensland. I know it's nice to have freedom for your adventures, so you'll have unlimited kilometres during your hire - you can drive right around Tasmania if you want! Henrietta is perfect for a solo adventure or a couple's getaway.
She's kitted out with kitchen equipment and a comfy bed, so just pack your clothes, food and bevies and you're off.
She has a bed which is the length of a Queen size but narrower than a double bed, it sleeps two people. The mattress is high quality and super comfortable! The front seats fold backwards until they are flat, which makes the van space much bigger to include the cab. She has unique storage shelves that fold out into a little table over the bed, with more storage space all under the bed and roof racks for your larger adventure gear. I hand-made curtains with magnetic tie-backs and installed warm-white LED lights that run off a house-battery. Her tinted windows means no one can see in from outside, but still provide great views from the inside! Custom-made mesh curtains and window socks also maintain privacy and air flow with the doors and windows open, and keep mosquitos out. With this stealthy van, you can pull up anywhere and be instantly ready to start your holiday.
Henrietta has a large, fold-out camping table and two camping chairs. There is cooking and eating equipment, cutlery, plates, bowls, cups, washing-up stuff (detergent, scrubbers, tea towels), a gas stove, a high-quality esky, bed linen, pillows and towels. Surface disinfectant, paper towel, hand sanitiser and toilet paper also provided.
Optional yoga mats - just let me know if you'd like these included for free in your hire.
She has a National Parks Pass, a small library of books about Tasmania, a collection of topographic National Parks maps and a rainy day box with puzzles and board games.
She has good clearance underneath and at 1.92m tall, she's still the perfect height to get into the limited-clearance carparks in Hobart. Her circus trick is an incredibly small turning circle, due to her short wheel base. Parallel parking, U-turns and tight maneuvering are ridiculously easy.
She's not a new van so she has a couple of quirks:
1. The speedometer under reads slightly, so if it shows 80km/hr, the actual speed is about 85km/hr. I have installed a GPS speedo on the dash that you can turn on if you'd like, and it's 100% accurate.
2. The fuel gauge always shows empty. A full tank holds 50L and drives about 450km. So I use the trip meter below the odometer: I fill up with fuel, then reset the trip meter to 0.0km by holding it down for a few seconds, and fill up again at by 400km to be sure never to run out of fuel.
With that off her chest, she would love to take you on your adventures.

House rules
If cooking inside the van, the back door must be open, and the stove must be on the large wooden board. This is to lower the risk of injury in case of fire or accident, prevents damage to Henrietta and also allows for any gas fumes or condensation to exit. (There's also a smoke alarm that will be triggered by steam if the back door is shut). Preferably all cooking is done outside the van.
Henrietta must be returned in clean condition, the same as at handover. Interior cleaning products are supplied with the hire and if there is exterior dirt from driving on unsealed roads, or salt spray from camping on the coast, there's a cheap self-service carwash 5 minutes drive away from the drop-off location.
